The last time I had a radio was back in the 60's, illicitly listening to pop songs under the bed covers. I'm thrilled that technology has moved on in the intervening years alongside my listening tastes. No need to hide this away; it's beautiful, delivers gorgeous sound quality and scores points with my husband who can finally keep up with his team courtesy of DAB radio. My lovely Revival even has the capacity to get me out from the duvet now, with its fabulous alarm facility. It was a treat to myself for achieving my doctorate, I hesitated momentarily, but I'm so, so glad I went with my heart and bought it. Thank you for the pleasure it has, and will continue to bring.
Bought an istream and was bought Sony H510 wireless headphones but it will NOT pair it shows connecting and blue light flashes but doesn't work !
This could be the perfect radio, great features but marred by an acknowledged issue that Roberts aren’t looking to fix in any upcoming models of the iStream series. The radio suffers from a mains-generated hum which equates to the sound of a loud mosquito when the radio is at lower volumes (eg when you’re in bed at night/in the morning). This is really disappointing for a supposedly high end piece of audio equipment, especially when you’ve paid nearly £200.
Quality made radio with modern day features but the amazing retro look. Purchased as a gift for my partner who has wanted one for a while. I would never spend £200 on a radio but this item reflects the price and the sound quality is brilliant. It doesnt sound like others. Really pleased with it and it looks lovely in the home. A working radio but also a feature.
It doesn’t disappoint, the retro look and high tech work well together. The alarm is especially convenient and the choice of ‘very low’ backlight makes all the difference. There are lots of little thoughtful details that really make sense. Definitely recommend.
Fantastic blend of old style charm with modern technology. Has the lovely warm tones and handsome looks of a traditional Roberts radio with every technology (Dab, Bluetooth, Internet Radio and steaming services) I need. Takes standard and rechargeable AA batteries (which will recharge when the radio is plugged into the mains adapter). I have bought two of these radios as they are soo good.
Bought this as present for wife’s birthday. Attracted to this as Alexa compatible. Was to replace a Sonos One with a prettier option. Set up and connected to WiFi extremely easily. UNDOCK software is a bit clunky, but following instructions to the letter is fine and works. Now the disappointment. I can’t use this to control Alexa fully (like a Sonos One for example). It needs to be linked to a controlling device. That’s frustrating and disappointing but so be it. Then, trying to set this as the preferred speaker for the Alexa controlling device, cannot be done as “...it must be able to play all audio. Your preferred speaker is only able to play certain types of audio...”. So, this is just a “glorified” speaker for the Alexa device. I probably would have known this (and maybe thought twice) if I’d researched more, so perhaps I’ve contributed to my own disappointment. Of course, I can hard wire via Aux or connect via Bluetooth, but I could do that with other cheaper options. Paying this level of money, I’d expect some better compatibility features. Will it permanently replace the Sonos? Time will tell. I’ve given 2 stars as the other functions (that I didn’t buy to use) are great, DAB, streaming, etc.
I have a previous iStream model which I bought around 5 years ago, and it has recently stopped switching on. When I press on the "on" button it makes a thumping noise but nothing happens. Disappointing as I bought the radio with the indestructible old analogue models in mind, and as a radio producer by trade I like to have a classic model to listen to my own work on, but this doesn't seem to have the same stamina as its forebears... Would be interested in buying an iStream 3, but for the price it doesn't seem worth it given this experience.
Really pleased with the product and the sales process, both through your website and in delivery of the product. Great to see independent, quality British companies like yourselves doing well. Bit disappointing to see you now marketing the product you want me to review £30 cheaper than what I paid however
I was delighted to receive this as a Christmas present from my wife. It took quite a while to set up but the instruction manual is fairly comprehensive, well laid out and a decent size to read. I love the simple menus, easy to save and recall pre-set stations on Internet, DAB and FM, and the sound quality is first class. The radio has a substantial feel to it, it's heavy enough to sit steady on a surface without skitting about at the slightest knock. I also like the way the lead connects underneath the radio near the battery compartment, the feet allowing enough room for the lead to pass comfortably. The only downside I have is the UNDOK software, this allows you to control your radio from a mobile device once the UNDOK software has been installed on your phone. My initial attempt went smoothly and operated the radio nicely allowing me to adjust the volume and change pre-sets etc without problem. Unfortunately 3 days later I tried to use it again and my radio had dropped off the software. It's now up and running again but it took many attempts and the best part of an hour of my life to get it going again. But it's a common problem, a read of the comments on Play Store gave scathing recent reviews of UNDOK. A software update in Oct 19 seems to be the problem so don't UNDOK or Roberts read these reviews and address the issue? For that reason, and my wasted time, I'm knocking a couple of stars off.
The radio is great. Amazing sound quality and works perfect!! Would 11/10 reccomend.
Looks Great, Sounds Great, Slight mark on top Knob which is a real shame, and rather complicated to connect to Alexia.
I bought this as a present for my adult daughter. She is delighted with it and very impressed with the many features it offers.
