Best radio ever

I brought this radio to listen to radio and play music the sound is fantastic and has graphic equaliser works well with Wi-Fi and unlock once understand about its standby mode and waking it up occasionally needed unpluging but enjoyment has outweighed any technical issues

Great radio

I have had a Stream 205 in the Kitchen for several years and am very satisfied with it, needed another for the garden room looked at Sonos but you are limited if you lose the internet, so I brought another Stream and again very pleased with the sound, its operating system all in all a great Radio

Very pleased with radio.

Very good radio. BUT the display panel is exactly the same as a Pure Radio that was rubbish that I throw away so I will and see if this is better.

Drops internet / WiFi averse

Ive got 2 Roberts radios for listening to internet radio. One is a different model and works fine. This one, however, daily loses sight of the wireless and needs reconnecting repeatedly. I’ve tried everything and still no improvement. It’s not my WiFi as no issues with the other radio and all other devices. Faulty or poor quality parts for WiFi connectivity. It’s such a waste of time and effort to use. Even sometime switching it on it takes 15-20 minutes to start up. That’s not right. Not as if it’s got valves needing to warm up. Disappointed, very disappointed.

Roberts radio lasts fifty one years.

I was looking for a radio that could take recharging batteries, as the last one had given up the ghost after only 52 years. British made built to last. So a Roberts it had to be, boy have they come on in that time. Grandchildren are impressed that with some of the things it can do. I am just pleased that a sixty plus can work it, once you read the book it’s so easy to set up. Looks really good in white don’t know if it will end up in the greenhouse, as it’s living in kitchen at moment. Really please with tone, trust it will still be around in fifty one years.

Great Quality and Lots of Functions.

Excellent radio. Not too big and looks great in the kitchen. Sound quality is good (remember it's not that big), and the ability to play overseas stations it really useful for multilingual families. Good to be able to control with a smartphone. Easy to use as well. We're really pleased.

Alarm issues

Only had it 3 days. Great Radio but still cant get the alarm to work, the alarm turns on as programmed but No sound comes out of the speakers.. Enable; Daily Time; 5.30AM Preset; 1 Volume; 12 Saved... Would I recommend this radio, not at the moment..

Don't believe anyone who tells you this radio isn't great. I bought it so that I could get BBC 6 Music via my French internet connection (despite one prominent retail outlet insisting it would not be possible) and I can now listen to it anywhere in the house. Also, the sound is great despite what one reviewer says. At first I had difficulty getting connected but a short phone call to Roberts technical assistance (who were excellent) gave me all the information I needed.

BBC high quality streams

I just discovered by accident that this set supports the BBC high quality streams (320k AAC) on all channels via internet radio. Excellent! Warning: You will never want to use DAB again. This can be done with previous models e.g. Stream 2005 by installing MinimServer on a PC on the same network, this is rather laborious but worthwhile. Don't know about the Stream 217, maybe Roberts could clarify this.

Everything I'd hoped for.

Bought this radio from Amazon.UK. It has a great sound ,is very versatile and I bought it in white (not an option from Roberts Store) After reading the other reviews I was worried about how this radio actually performed. My concerns were unfounded. I would definitely recommend this product without reservation as it is by far the most versatile and best radio I have owned. I have 4 other Roberts Radios and this is the best.

Good but a few issues stop it being great

I bought this radio for its extra functions, Spotify, playing music from a memory stick, podcasts and internet radio for example. In providing this extra functionality it has so much potential to be the best radio I have. However the battery performance is woeful (and no alarm function on battery) and the sound is just pathetic. Bought in part to be taken on the road (camper van with wi-fi) it is pretty useless and is confined to being a bedside radio with van duties given to a Sony portable played through an external speaker which provide much better sound quality. The Stream 218 in an opportunity missed and I would not recommend it unless you wanted to carry extra, and heavy, batteries and a small external speaker to boost sound quality.

Excellent piece of kit

We only got this today but it already exceeds what we wanted. We are in a poor reception area for FM and Dab is worse than useless. Internet radio is the perfect solution. Easy to set up and easy to use, including music from a usb stick (we grew up with cassettes) Sound quality is very good for a portable. Only complaint is mains adapter looks a bit bulky with the wire coming out of the top. Won't bother most people but it's stands out where we have it.
