The success of the Revival Petite 2 in the UK and Europe comes down to the fact that ‘it’s as charming as it is functional – adorable, yet packing a monster audio experience’ comments product designer Tristian Thornhill.
With regards to design, Tris adds “The smooth, rounded corners are wrapped in sturdy, tactile leather-cloth, available in a range of on-trend colours that appeal to modern tastes. Every detail is meticulously considered: the crisp, bright OLED display, the satisfyingly clicky control dial and its satisfying substantial weight, which balances the need to be compact and easily portable, means this radio demands to be held, kept close, and shown off. And the sound? For a device of this size, it’s astonishing. Even now, it surprises me.”
Upgraded Retro
Tristian explains, “For the Petite 2, we set out to enhance what was already a winning formula by listening to our consumers. We replaced the original pigtail aerial with a telescopic one—synonymous with traditional radios and adding to its retro charm. We introduced more refined controls, switching from individual buttons to a single joypad. This change not only improved reliability but also maintained the product's clean, timeless look. The result? A product that feels both substantial and delightful to hold, and interact with and a radio that looks seamless and effortlessly stylish.
