This review is for the original black blutune speaker, The radio sounds reasonable, as does the aux input. but the connectivity with bluetooth is dreadful, really hit and miss, often having to do a factory reset, and "forgot" the device on the iPhone. Quite often when/if it does connect, even with the volume on the iPhone on full and the Blutune turned up to full, the sound is barely audible. I've recently got a new iPhone ( 11 ) and the connectivity's even worse with that, which works perfectly with half a dozen (some very cheap ) bluetooth speakers and headphones that I have Just trying to find if there's a software upgrade for it that might fix the problem.
I have had this unit for a few years and has been played everyday without any problems, sound great.. BUT...the remote is rubbish, too small and hard to use. I have lost count how many times I have lost one of my favourite stations by holding remote button a split second to long.. its a shame a little more thought on the remote this unit would be ten out of ten.
My unit is now approx 3-4 years old and still works reasonably well. Eventhis far in with regular use, the non conventional remote control irritates me a lot and I wouldn't recommend the unit based on that alone. Its like it was designed by a recent Product Design engineering graduate who was given too much responsibility on their first project. I also find the Bluetooth functionality hit and miss... regardless of type of android phone or iPhone, I regularly have to go from Bluetooth back through all the other functions and back to Bleutooth to get a connection. Fails over 50% of the time on first connection attempt. Other than that, as always with Roberts, I find the sound quality fantastic and have no issues with the DAB/FM and CD functionality (the other uses aside from Bluetooth)
looks good, sounds good. quality product and not overpriced
Always wanted a bose but could not justify price read loads of reviews and decided to take the plunge and was overjoyed with sound quality easy setup within half an hour I, d manually tuned dab presets and paired my phone and tablet to Bluetooth would highly recommend
We have used it everyday since purchase - it is a pleasure to listen to.
I cannot fault this machine. It was bought specifically to use for audio books, and it would be hard to beat for this use. It is easy to use and set up. The sound quality for music CDs is wonderful. Roberts produce a quality product.
This was bought for me as a Christmas present the blutune 200 in black out of all I looked at at tried I kept going back to Roberts the sound quality speaks for itself excellent & a very good quality product.
Great product, good quality. If I could suggest improvements I would say the headphone socket should be on the front ALWAYS. If you're using this in the bedroom you don't want to be fiddling around the back in the the dark. Yes the remote is quirky, classy design over function, but I'm sure I'll get used to it. I expected the long thin buttons to be wobbly, they're not, they are solid. The glossy wood is a pleasure to touch although it does show fingerprints. You can stream to it via Bluetooth, if only you could connect Bluetooth headphones too it would be perfect.
The remote is someone's idea of a joke, it works sideways, has no feel to any of the buttons and so is very difficult to use in the dark. You can't select a preset channel but have to scroll through the list, so you either have to read the channels on the display or know which number you want and hope for the best, when you scroll you often program another channel by mistake which is very annoying. Sound is ok but nothing special. Overall very very disappointing and certainly not worth the money.
Bought this to replace an old compact HIFI system I had been using as an alarm clock for more than 20 years. Sounds as good as HIFI system but takes up a lot less space. Clock automatically sets it self from radio signal so no need to worry about power-cuts any more. Also will save to SD or flash drive with out the need for I-tunes.
Sounds good and looks good, also it was cheaper than in other shops.
Good looking ,sound very good ,would definitely recommend to friends
I love Roberts Radios, I've bought three of the Blutone's predecessors and three EcoLogic, either for personal use or gifts. This one though falls a long way below the standard. The remote control is small and fiddly, does not even have station numbers on it, the DAB displays error messages for which there is no explanation in the handbook, I could go on. Sound is of course great, but if you can't use it easily why bother. On its way back to Roberts.
