This makes no sense

My newish Stream 94i now wakes with a message asking if I want to download an update. If I select 'Yes' it switches into Sleep mode (?) and goes silent for five minutes (not ideal if you want the news). Next morning - the same. I wish my old Pure Tempus hadn't died.

Too Complex

I bought this radio after listen to it in a well known department store. The sound quality was excellent and I was attracted to the podcast features. Unfortunately it is so complex that you need a degree in electronic to set it up and the 70 page instruction book is written by electronic experts for electronic experts and in no way would pass the Crystal English mark. Unfortunately it is now going on EBay unused for a fraction of the price.

Aerial has brpken

All my own fault but I retracted the aerial by pushing from top and I'm one person who should know better. I can't find any spares for sale on the Robertsradio site. Apart from that, the radio works on battery and can play from a memory stick. Not found out if I can record from radio to memory stick yet (Timed)

Great radio looks good and sounds good.

Very pleased with this product, does all I wanted and more, if you want to listen to an internet radio station that isn't listed on the database though it's a little tricky to add it, but other than that a terrific little radio.

Fine radio

Bought as a present for my wive. This Roberts 94i replaces a Audisse Shirudo i want to use in my workplace. I can compare the sound and ease of use of both radio's. The sound of the Roberts is better, but the Shirudo can play a lot harder whithout distortion. I love the interface of the 94i more because it is very straightforward. I've been using it as an internet radio (radio Swiss Classique) and as a DAB radio for whole days, playing loud and clear. Even no problems when connecting with bluetooth. I connected a Samsung S7, a Huawei P20 and a Samsung tab 5Se to the 94i whithout any issues. I hope we can use this Roberts radio for many years, because Brexit will make English gear to expensive for people in Europe. Very satisfied, just wanted a litlle bit more bass.

Not comaptible with bluetooth 5

The product looks good, is well made and sounds good. It suffers from occasional freezing which requires a hard reboot achieved by unplugging the unit. Now and then, the radio stream drops out (even R3), which requires a quick on/off, but sometimes a power down. However, despite these niggles (which I can just about live with), the 94i doesn't functional well on bluetooth. My laptop is bluetooth 5 (which is backward compatible), but the 94i does not function correctly. It connects, but then times out every 15mins - which the manual states is because the bluetooth connection is inactive. During the 15mins it remains connected, sound streams OK and the 94i can be used to select next/previous tracks. However, the volume control doesn't work when used from the bluetooth device. The volume knob on the 94i works, but when attempted from the laptop, the volume reading on the 94i is jerky and steadily moves downwards until the sound mutes. Having had numerous discussions with Roberts tech support, it was determined that this a problem with compatibility with bluetooth 5 and that they would work on a software patch to resolve the issue. This was months ago and despite further enquiries, the only reply I receive is that the issue 'is still being worked on'. If this is a problem affecting the product as a whole and not just my one, it seems strange that it is taking so long to resolve. If it is a problem affecting just my radio, I should have thought that Roberts would offer a replacement - if only to get mine back to determine if the fault is due to defective components, the manufacturing process or a software bug.

Problems with internet radio service

It seems that this radio is in breach of the trade descriptions act as “due to issues with internet radio provider” service cannot be guaranteed. If this can be resolved it should be all over their help pages and it is not. All I get is a messaged to remove power cable for a minute and then re connect, and it does not work! And then get exactly the same message. It worked fine until recently I should add.

Great little radio

Great sound for its size, huge range of music available from bluetooth, internet radio and the USB input in addition to the beeb and classic. Recommended

Cannot manually load url address as specified.

Purchased this to listen to Digitally Imported which I subscribe to. I checked first, by downloading the instruction manual to see if this was possible. It said no problem, you can manually load the url. However it is not possible then or now. Gutted that I have been duped. You cannot log into their server. Very poor service. On the plus side the radio sounds good even though you cannot receive what you want.

Fantastic radio

This is my 3rd Roberts radio so far. Initially I had the WM202, then the Stream 83i and now the Stream 94i. The current features are quite impressive especially when compared to the Stream 83i . I'm not sure if the recent change Wifi providers from vTuner is the reason, but the amount of buffering and "loading" problems I had with the 83i are a thing of the past. To be honest, it took me a little while to get used to the wood retro look, as I loved the glossy piano black surface. Now, I doubt I'd go back. Bluetooth connectivity is a great and much needed addition and works really well, however I would have preferred it to be both inbound as well as outbound (for Bluetooth headphones). It wasn't a biggie as I managed to bypass by using an external transmitter. Still, for a radio of this price & quality, it should have been a given. The display is very crisp and the new backlighting controls are a blessing. Finally after years of an almost "alien like" blue glow at night from the 83i, the 94i is a pleasure to have next to my bed. Sound quality is superb. The only negative aspect, and it could be purely personal, is the black cloth covering the speakers. While it looks and feels nice, it offers little or no protection to the speakers and has the potential of easily tearing and collecting dust. Not sure how easy it would be to replace. Overall, very very happy and would recommend.

Okay - bit dissapointing for the high price

I bought this a week ago and so far I'm a bit dissapointed to be honest. The system crashes quite regularly and re-boots itself, particualrly if you cycle quite far down the internet radio listings. it regualrly stalls completely when moving between internet radion and spotify connect for some reason - requiring a full unplugging power off and back on again. Another big issue is the UNDOK app is not vaialiable for Aplle iOS in Ireland for some reason - this is not mentioned anywhere. To be honest I am considering returning for a refund. The sound quality is impressive but for the price it is not good enough in functionality.

Idiotic USB-playback time out

I bought this radio because it would allow me to playback from a USB-memory. But in practice it does not. After 15 minutes the radio times out, unless you press a button first. I do not want to constantly be near the radio to look whether the 15 minutes are nearly up. And then, if you start playing back again, it turns out there is no bookmark set, so you have to manually go back to the spot where it turned itself off. The manufacturer says it does not time out if you are connected to the Internet, but what about using it outside and no Internet connection being available? And then there also is the silly batterysystem at the back blocking an important speaker...

Fantastic apart from dropped connection

Had this a few months now and it's even better than I hoped. The sound is awesome, you can use the preset mini equaliser or save your own. It's remarkably easy to set up and use. The undok app(more about that later) is actually easier for tuning in stations/ podcasts / etc than using the radio itself. When you turn it on it gently ups the volume from low to the level you want or left it at last. It's great quality and nicely understated in design. The buttons are nice to press and everything feels solid. Now the potentially bad bit. The undok app means you can turn the radio on/off change stations using your mobile phone, in theory. The reality is that it's normally hit and miss. To negate the misses I reboot the radio at least once a day and this seems to work, usually. Apart from that highly recommended and I hope I have this radio for many many years!

Excellent radio, versatile as an egg

I've had the Stream 94i nearly a year, & am pleased with it, I've used most features but mainly use Internet radio to listen to Italian talk radio, & DAB for UK stations. Excellent sound, compact & easy to setup & use. Since the change from WiFiRadioFrontier as supplier, WiFi stability is much improved, with almost no dropouts. I assumed the occasional annoying instability was a radio issue as per some other reviews, but don't now believe this was the case, and that it was probably a WifiRadioFrontier issue. I hope the ability to locate/store favourites via computer browser is reinstated soon. All in all, can recommend the 94i and am glad I got it.
