Great battery life

I've had this for 3 years and it's been used mainly at my caravan. It's compact but has decent sound for the size and can be used with battery or mains. A big factor in choosing this was the built in charger, the rechargeable batteries I use last ages (4 AA). I'm happy to recommend this little radio.

Very pleased with Roberts PLAY DAB.

Having just moved to a flat I found that the two conventional radios were totally useless,so was advised to buy a DAB radio. I carried out some research, particularly using the Consumer Association "Which". At £69 this Roberts radio was at the lower end of the general price range. However I am delighted with it. In particular that it works very well with little or no aerial extended. Its small and light and therefore very suitable to be moved about.

Excellent Portable/Mains DAB Radio

Excellent quality and performance. Delivered within 3 working days in secure packaging. Manual easy to use I had the radio working in a few minutes. Recharge facility is good, but use 2300mAh rechargeable batteries as per the manual. Good value.

Difficult to turn on and off.

Generally a brilliant radio. What ruins it is that after a while, 12mths strangely, it does not always turn on or off the first time which is very irritating, so much so that I think it will have to go.

Good value

A good little radio with the features I required. Sound is well balanced for speech and voice but it does not go very loud. Battery life could be a lot better but I can live with that.

Beware the batteries

Lovely radio. Size was Important, also the inbuilt battery charger. However, the batteries I used took over 24 hours to charge fully, even though I had charged them on my external charger. When I next tried the radio it stopped working, wouldn't switch on, batteries wouldn't charge, even though they worked fine in another radio. Another set worked perfectly, both charging and keeping working. So I can only conclude it doesn't like old batteries, worth buying a new set with the radio.

I have just bought our second Roberts Play, as we have given our first one to our son, but we needed to replace this great radio. The reception on both Plays is great in our part of East Yorkshire as not only am I able to receive DAB stations from the BBC National, the Digital 1 and local Humberside multiplexes BUT with the Play I can also clearly receive stations such as Jazz FM Stereo, Magic Chilled and Premier Praise from the SDL multiplex as well as KCFM on the Lincolnshire multiplex. The Play has really sensitive DAB tuner and the FM RDS is great for listening to Yorkshire Coast Radio. Full marks to Roberts for this a great portable radio,

Radio days

I had seen this radio at a friend's house and really liked the quality and the possibility of using rechargeable batteries. It is a robust radio and a pleasure to use.
