DAB/DAB+/FM Alarm Clock Radio
The Ortus 1 alarm clock radio is packed with fantastic features to make your mornings easy. With DAB/DAB+/FM radio and 2 alarm timers, you can wake to a buzzer or your favourite radio station. Plus, the handy any-button snooze function and bedtime listening gradual fade help you to both wake up and drift off too.
Due to extreme weather conditions, delivery may be significantly delayed. Our products are available to buy from John Lewis, Amazon, Argos, Currys, and selected independent UK retailers.
Built-in DAB/DAB+/FM means you can listen to your favourite radio stations, and with 6 station presets you can access them with the touch of a few buttons.
2 Alarm Timers
Choose whether you wake to DAB, FM radio or buzzer.
You can also set the alarm duration - to 30, 60, 90, or 120 minutes - so your DAB or FM radio alarm will keep playing for as long as you'd like.
Hit the snooze button…
The adjustable sleep, snooze and nap timer, plus the any-button snooze mean that you can put the morning on hold and catch an extra forty winks…
Another great feature is the bedtime listening function - the audio fades down as you reach the end of the sleep timer you've set, so it doesn't interrupt you when you're drifting off.
The Ortus 1 also has a night-time display. The digital clock display appears brightly at the touch of a button then fades back to black after 10 seconds.
When in standby, it has a large clock display with the time.
You can also adjust the display dimmer at night so that you're not disturbed.
Play music from your smartphone
An auxiliary input socket means you can play music from your smartphone, so the Ortus 1 can double up as a speaker for your playlists too.
You can also listen to the radio without disturbing anyone, using the headphone socket.

I got first bought one of these about 15 months ago on a really good deal and intially loved it. Unfortunately it soon started occasionally going off when it wasn't set (which is annoying) or not go off when it was set (which was far more problematic!). Its so intermittent though that you can't reliably predict when this might happen (ie its not always just if there has been a powercut or just if you have recently adjusted the time), instead it could be happily working fine for months then when you least expect it, it happens! we did various factory resets but it never made any difference. It has a 2 year warranty so we took it back and got it replaced and the new one did exactly the same in a matter of weeks. I can only assume there is therefore a more fundamental fault than just that one radio so am currently on the hunt for a suitable alternative and then will be returning the Ortus 1 for a refund. Such a shame as it is otherwise such a perfect clock radio.
Easy to use buttons radio has a good sound
Very good product fab
Although small the radio performs very well with great sound output and ease fuse. its small size means it fits on our bedside table to wake us up gently!
Loved my ortus 1 at first. But it can’t handle power cuts. The clock sorts itself out so you wouldn’t know there’s even been a power cut. But the alarms are another matter. Although they look like they’re still set they aren’t. To fix it we had to go and change the alarm time to something different and then back, not the simplest of operations, I need to refer back to the instructions each time. I’ve reverted to taking using my mobile phone as an alarm as I can’t rely on my ortus because you can’t tell if the alarms will work or not. I emailed Roberts 3 months ago, no response
While radio on time is not displayed. Surely this can't be intentional?
useless. - suddenly stopped working on 3. sept. plunges in and switched on but start button has no effect whatever. -totally dead
Pleased with purchase. Easy to set up and easy to operate. Would recommend.
Small and beautiful but the sound could do with a little more bass.
I’m a big fan of the Roberts brand, having had a few of their radios, clock radios, and CD systems over the years. So when our old DAB clock radio expired I sought out a Roberts to replace it. This is small and compact, and it’s easy to set the alarm and it also looks great. But I have to say I’m disappointed with the sound quality - it’s so tinny and this spoils the rest of the good features of this product. Great shame, as it’s not a cheap clock radio but it is let down by the sound quality.
Bought as a replacement to another Roberts radio alarm clock, now wishing I'd kept the old one. Last few weeks it's started going off on its own accord at midnight if I have an alarm set. Have. Checked all the settings and only 1 alarm is set for 7am so no clue as to why this is happening. Aside from that, it's OK to use and for a bedside alarm works fine!!
Have been really happy with this. But about a year after I purchased the radio it has just gone dead
God for want I wanted it for
Easy to set up and use, and reliable.
The display was too small for my fading eyes. Would probably be fine for a younger person.
