Simple to use

I bought this radio for an elderly friend who is in a cottage hospital with no individual patient radio facility. It is really simple to use with a push bar to select wave bands and a combined on/off/volume control wheel. He's thrilled with the radio it has good reception and volume. With his headphones on he can use it to not only be entertained but listen to what is happening in the outside world.

Neat radio and easy to use

Great little radio for my mom. Sound is good and very easy to use so ideal for her. It does not come with the mains attachment which I overlooked so used batteries until I was able to order the correct mains adapter. There was no head set with it even though it did say on the box so that's the reason I didn't give 5 stars .

So useful in a power cut

Discovered I was so isolated in a recent power cut and though I had a mobile phone there was no battery left and no means of contacting anyone or recharging it. I needed the local news to inform me of the power cut and if local flooding was affecting my area. An emergency I found I was not prepared for. Hence a good battery radio, which I can also use as a plug in too. So I bought the Roberts portable which is a great little radio.

Simple analogue radio that does the job

Digital radio is nice when there is reception, but even that is variable at any given location. Our house has intermittent mobile phone and DAB reception, the latter being worse than the former, so this analogue radio does the job in the shower room where it is needed.

good product and good price

Bought this for my husband at Christmas as he wanted an "ordinary" radio. It's simple to use and navigate channels and looks good too. Happy husband.

Very good foir receiving Long-Wave programmes

This is a real analogue wireless set, with a real analogue tuning circuit. No LCD displays to go wrong. (I got rid of a very expensive set from a different maker because the LCD failed and it was impossible to see which station the set was tuned in to.) In Medium Wave and Long Wave, this set separates the different stations well; not too much cross-talk between channels. The loudspeaker is good. The quality of sound received from FM transmitters is very acceptable.

Cheap and cheerful plastic radio.

Don't buy this expecting it to be something special because of the name. Few "Roberts" products are what your granny would recognise. This one is cheap and plastic, and that's how it sounds. This is our second, the first one having stopped working after a few years, and of course there are "no user serviceable parts inside". But it is cheap and cheerful and has big buttons which my mother-in-law's arthritic hands can operate, and LW which she needs at her remote home.
